"....forty (40) dwellings, two (2) shops and reduction in car parking requirements".

I'm sure Darebin Council will approve it under the mistaken impression that 40 new residences and LESS parking will encourage bike and PT use.

Truly this is a plan with no drawbacks.

The idea of concentrating more intensive development along major roads like Bell St is excellent, but the continuing requests (and approvals) for reduced car parking requirements are alarming. Even if there is some use of bikes and public transport, the residents of these new dwellings will all still want cars. Dwellings with more than one resident will no doubt have an equal number of cars. So the question for council is: where will all of these cars be parked???
