This proposal should NOT go ahead. The theatre Royal is a landmark location. The theatre should be made available for future use as a venue, given its historical use and idea location. If this development of the carpark goes ahead it will never be used for that purpose again, given that the theatre will have no parking. It has the largest capacity of any venue in Lithgow (600 downstairs alone). There are multiple sites that are suited to residential development in Lithgow that wont destroy the future use of a landmark building.

I am firmly AGAINST this proposal.
When I moved to Lithgow I had so many ideas regarding the potential of the Theatre Royal.
Downstairs, a teen area with bowling lanes, video games, jukebox, and a few comfy couches in some darker nooks and crannies. And a beer bar with a couple of pool tables for older teens and young adults. Picnic tables outside.
Upstairs, the theatre for movies and events. Maybe a wine and tapas bar.
So much potential, which will all be lost under a residential development. Please don't accept this proposal.

Our family would love to see the Theatre Royal done up for indoor Putt Putt Golf &/or Ten Pin Bowling.
Don’t build on the car park there, that will guarantee The Theatre Royal never to be used again…
OR…
Is that the idea?
Leave it all alone with THE ONLY exception for turning it into something our community & tourists will go to.
Go & build your residences elsewhere.

Lithgow is growing in many ways. It’s a jewel and while a few people don’t think this is possible Lithgow could have an incredible arts scene drawing in local and National
talent.
The Theatre Royal could be a busy hub with Theatres, Cinemas, A Gallery, Bar etc
I am all for change however not taking away from the community!
Surely there are other areas for 4 apartments to be built elsewhere ? Why take away from a facility that has so much to offer Lithgow? A town that is just awakening and realising its potential ?
I am definitely against building four units in the The Theatre Royal Carpark.

I am firmly AGAINST this proposal. As custodians for future generations, we are responsible for preserving history as we look to the future. Residential crowding is not appropriate for that site in terms of streetscape aesthetic, in terms of preserving historical buildings including the surrounds, in terms of the aesthetic being the gateway to our small city, and especially in terms of SEVERELY LIMITING future use of an historical, unique, quality entertainment venue. Very difficult to undo such a monumental mistake if it went ahead. Plenty of other non-controversisl sites for such a development. Surely council is not so greedy for rates as to allow such a short-sighted, controversial development? Although classified a city, Lithgow is a big country town with lots of space & a few remaining historical buildings. Lets keep this aesthetic, especially on the main road & entrance to town. And let's preserve the potential use of the building for future generations as we would not be able to replicate it. It would also prevent the potential of accommodating large entertainment events that would increase tourist dollars all through town.
