The proposed telecommunications facility is in close proximity to St. Joseph's Primary School. It is concerning that 5 days a week young children will be exposed to an output of strong cellular radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF). The power density in transmission of 5G RF-EMFs is higher than 3G & 4G and the health impacts, especially on children, are of even greater significance than the impacts of previous studies, as referenced. Along with the health impacts, as listed, there are also increased dangers of fire hazards at these facilities.

Health impacts noted in various studies indicate evidence of: radiofrequency sickness; cancer; immuno-suppressant factors; raised cortisol levels (a hormone influencing increased flight-fight stress); neurotoxic effects on the nervous system and neurobehavioural effects (even in adults); impacts on cognitive performance and sleeping problems. (See references.)

These studies were conducted on adults: young children are much more vulnerable to these serious health impacts. In view of these concerns, this leads to questions of whether parents at St Joseph have been notified of the proposal and are aware of these highly significant risks to their children.

Telecommunications towers are necessary infrastructure that modern applications rely upon. It makes sense for these towers to be placed where impacts will be minimised and benefits maximised. Placing these facilities near any school is inappropriate and contraindicated. The aim of maximising the benefit of height in the location of a transmission tower also contraindicates the geographical bowl of Nambour.

The old Nambour cemetery up on the hill behind the industrial area at the corner of Bli-Bli Road and Coronation Avenue, would be a more suitable location where the departed are unlikely to be harmed.
