Interesting as I use to live in Cambridge Street some years ago and there was an application to build on this block and the block has underground springs and reactive black soil and the council was advised of this and did not approve the application. SO surley they have a record of this previous application. The concrete house slab my house was built on actually moved and the centre was higher than the rest. We only found this out when selling the house and the new owner did a building inspection. Fences also moved and rotted due to the damp black soil movement. The previous owners of this block actually put black plastic down (under ground)
and underground pipes behind the fences of the houses in Cambridge Street to channel the water down to storm water drains. but the underground springs are still there. I believe the previous application was for a retirement villiage.
