Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 02 of 2025 - Morayfield South Emerging Community Area is the overriding Planning Instrument for this DA.

Strategic Framework Outcomes for Morayfield South
7.4 Central to the high-quality new community is the enhancement and protection of identified environmental corridors and environmental links that prioritise protecting ecological values and restoring ecological connectivity and waterway values.

This proposed development is located entirely within a mapped Environmental Corridor under the Morayfield South Interim Structure Plan and any development would destroy the long term viability of the corridor.

I would like to see Council refuse this DA.

Temporary Local Planning Instrument No. 02 of 2025 – Morayfield South Emerging Community Area is the overriding statutory planning instrument for the assessment of this Development Application.
The Strategic Framework for Morayfield South is unequivocal in its intent. Strategic Framework Outcome 7.4 establishes that a central element of the proposed high‑quality community is the enhancement, protection, and restoration of identified environmental corridors and environmental links. These corridors are expressly intended to prioritise the protection of ecological values, the restoration of landscape‑scale ecological connectivity, and the safeguarding of waterway integrity.
The subject land is located entirely within a mapped Environmental Corridor under the Morayfield South Interim Structure Plan. Any form of urban or incompatible development within this corridor would fundamentally undermine its ecological function and irreversibly compromise its long‑term viability. Allowing development in this location would directly conflict with the Strategic Framework and would set a precedent that weakens the integrity of the entire corridor network.
It must be recognised that the Morayfield South area is already experiencing intense development pressure, with native habitat loss pushing local wildlife toward further decline and, in some cases, localised extinction. The environmental corridors identified in the planning framework are not discretionary open space but are critical last‑remaining refuges necessary for species movement, survival, and resilience. Their erosion would exacerbate existing environmental stress and directly contradict Council’s stated planning outcomes.
For these reasons, this Development Application cannot be conditioned to comply with the planning framework without eliminating the very environmental values the corridor is intended to protect. The proposal is fundamentally inconsistent with the planning intent for Morayfield South.
Accordingly, I strongly urge Council to refuse this Development Application in order to uphold the Strategic Framework, protect the designated environmental corridor in its entirety, and ensure that irreplaceable ecological values are not sacrificed in an area already under significant environmental strain. MBRC & Qld Govt you drew up this environmental mapping to protect our Austarlian wildlife please dont submit to developers greed and destroy what little environmentally friendly green space remains in Moarayfield south.
Regards
Mr R. Wilson
