Hungry Jacks is a fast food chain. Moss Vale does not need another unhealthy, fast food franchise outlet owned by a single already wealthy person
First:
Fast food outlets encourage bad eating habits and are detrimental to people's health - particularly the health of young people. Wingecarribee Shire Council is endeavouring to maintain and increase its population of young families and youth and undoubtedly would like them to be as healthy as possible. While a quick and easy meal might tempt young people, the "adults in the room" should be encouraging healthy eating habits not habits of eating food made tasty by artificial additives.
Second:
There are already a number of food outlets in Moss Vale, owned by small business owners who do not mass produce these foods. Every food chain that is established here, takes business from these family run shops. Already, the number of shops closing their door on the main street of Moss Vale is alarming. We do not want to see any more closures.
Third:
The Hungry Jack's chain is just another example of a US company getting a foot in Australia's door. Hungry Jacks is owned by an Australian/Canadian and is wholly a franchise US' Burger King. Multinationals of this kind are detrimental not only to Australia's health but also to Australia's small businesses, particularly in small country towns such as Moss Vale
