Harrow Road and the surrounding Auburn area are home to families, children, schools, community services and places of worship. This is a neighbourhood where people live their everyday lives—not an entertainment precinct where alcohol and gaming need to be added.

Auburn is also a diverse community. While there is a large Muslim population and many mosques in the area, this is not a religious objection. People of many faiths and backgrounds call Auburn home, and everyone deserves to have a say in what kind of environment we want for our families.

At a time when household expenses are already putting enormous pressure on families, I am particularly concerned about introducing gambling into the heart of such a residential community.
