We are one of the commercial tenants on level 1 of 341 George Street, Fitzroy. We would like to place a sign advertising our business - “Goethe-Institut” on the outside of the entrance to the commercial premises. The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. We promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange. As a language and cultural education provider we want to make it obvious as to which entrance our students need to enter the building from. Our Landlord, Disability Sport & Recreation, already has a sign in the same area (please see photos attached) and we would like to seek approval to install the sign as attached. As this building is in a Heritage Overlay, we have been informed by the Council that the installation of any sign will require a planning permit.
